Typical Schedule
The following is a sample daily schedule, which may vary depending on the age and needs of visiting classes and on the season, weather, and other circumstances. For example, during the early spring and late fall, when the sun rises later and sets earlier, the day starts later and ends earlier.
Daylight
Chores: general farm chores, animal feeding and milking; student cooks report to the kitchen (about 1 hour)
Breakfast (about one-half hour)
Cleanup (about one-half hour)
Class talk with the farmers (about 1 hour)
Project time I (about 45 minutes)
Mid-morning
Snack (timing may vary depending on projects and energy levels and may come after either Project
time I or II) (about 15 minutes)
Project time II (about 45 minutes)
Project time III; student cooks report to the kitchen (about 45 minutes)
Shortly after noon
Lunch (about 1 hour)
Rest period (napping, going to the river or creek, drawing, reading, etc.) (about 2 hours)
Mid-afternoon
Snack (time may vary depending on projects and energy levels)
Project time IV (about 2 hours)
Before sunset
Chores: animal feeding and milking; student cooks report to the kitchen (about 1 hour)
Supper (about 1 hour)
Evening
Activity (about 1 hour)
Tent visiting (about 1 hour)
9:00 p.m. Quiet time (about 1 hour)
10:00 p.m. Lights out
