A Summer Visit
Posted by Francesca Pera
I’m currently visiting LPCF for a few days. It’s cool this morning after arriving two nights ago to very hot and muggy weather. There were actually a few rain showers! While here, I’ve had a chance to go through the many wonderful photos Gloria has taken over the last several months. We will use some of these to update the website and as an accompaniment to this blog. Currently, there are nine apprentices and visitors working on the farm. They are a competent and congenial crew. Several are returnees from last year and a few are visiting from Germany. The Decater sons are busy with various projects — everything from running the combine; cooking breakfast; rehabilitating the old 1958 pickup; taking care of the animals at Frazier Lane Organics; working with horses; to the amazing construction and solar power installation on the new farm classroom. Gloria and Stephen, as always, are busy with coordinating orders (blueberries this week) and farm management. Amidst all the frenzy, Gloria and I put up a batch of canned peaches from Good Humus Produce — what a peach bounty this year! I rarely get the chance to visit this very special place, but each time I am reminded of the energy and dedication the Decaters put into their work. It’s truly a privilege to be a part of this community!
Please stay tuned for upcoming photos. I need to upload them from my computer in San Francisco.
